After scanning the image I have traced it using the pen tool in illustrator. I have also created new shapes in order to fill the white space. In order to keep the image symmetrical I have only finished one half of the image then mirrored it on the other side.
The next process will involve printing it onto A3 paper and tracing it by hand.
