We decided to enter The KK Outlet 'Best In Show' brief which involved creating an exhibition concept for the chance to be able to exhibit in Hoxton Square, London for the whole month of July.
Our concept involved the idea that Just Us Design Collective was about students showcasing work from all over the country and travelling from their place of study to London to exhibit for the event. The exhibition would be titled 1260.4 which is the total distance; in miles, of every exhibitor travelling to London. Each member would then create a piece of work based on the unique distance they travelled.
The walls of the exhibition would reflect this and would look much like a tube map in that it would use colours and lines to link the work together. We also proposed the idea of having a collaboration mural at the end of the gallery space which each exhibitor would work on throughout the setting up period.
We did manage to secure the best in show competition but they werent too keen on the concept meaning we had to come up with a new one.
Our experience with KK has given us a real insight into collaboration and curating on a huge scale! We put in three lengthy proposals in total and have listened to ideas form KK which i feel have helped us to develop our ideas. The whole experience has been amazing and the show on July 2nd will be a huge challenge but worth it when we open on 2nd July a7 7
