Another band The Scandals asked me if I would produce their logo too. The guys from the scandals had a good idea of what they wanted, which was a bit of a shame as this gave me less creative freedom. They asked me to produce a logo similar to the logo of indie band "the rascals", whose logo looks very hand drawn and almost scribbly.
I created this by firstly hand drawing lots of different letter shapes in quick succession. I then picked the letters which I thought were most successful and scanned them in, spelling out the name the scandals. I then live traced the image I had created. I used specific live trace setting to get the most grain out of the letters as possible. I then added a 3d effect to the letters which made the text look more like a logo. I brought the logo back into photoshop and adjusted some of the colours and the brightness and contrast to finnish it off.
I like the logo but I don't think it reflect me and my style as a designer. Although I did like experimenting with new techniques when making it. I think I this project I would like to keep to what I know best but at the same time experiment slightly with new techniques to find new ways of working.
