Dissertation Artefact 6

I created this typeface to explore and understand fully why modernist typographers were drawn to create fonts with geometric shapes. I wanted to find out how easy it was to create typefaces from just a number of forms with the aid of a grid.

I also wanted to explore the type of technology which was available to everyone with a computer and internet access.

To create this typeface i used the online application fontstruct, which lets you create fonts out of geometrical shapes, which you can arrange in a grid pattern. using the shapes as building blocks of the letter form.

From creating this typeface i realised just how easy it is for anyone to produce a working truetype typeface which could be used in almost all desktop publication software.
