For my portfolio and for general experimentation I created a 3d typeface. I wanted to create something which would be quite decorative and not fully legible to bring intrigue to the design. I started by creating single line letters around a square template. When this was done I added a 3d effect to the letters. I then typed the typeface into different phrases that I thought might work well in a printed form. With these I then added different colors to the single and 3d lines as black on white wasn't working quite as I had imagined. I think that the final images is quite nice and could be the sort of thing that could be on all sorts of printed media such as greetings cards.
